**HOW MUCH OF ‘BARGAIN’ IS DUNBLANE IN BLOOM FOR THE COMMUNITY**

A JOIN THEM OR LOSE THEM MOMENT?

Our DIB volunteers have just completed a refurbishment of the roundabout at the top of Dunblane High St. Despite the COVID related restrictions, they have also found time to maintain other established projects in various public gardens around the town and on their famous display planters in the town centre.

Many of these volunteers have been with this group since its inception in 2004 and have to admit that they are not getting any younger!  They are in need of few younger new members to ensure the continuity of  the much appreciated community service that they have created.

Their work costs almost £8000 every year for materials, plants, transport etc. Most of this is generously donated by local people, other community groups/organisations and local businesses. But their volunteered time, skill and enthusiasm contribution is the vital component.

Nobody does community volunteering for their contributions to be valued in pounds and pence But it is worth noting that the their 1800 hours of work done each year represents,  even in paltry ‘living wage’ terms, a donation of £18,000 p.a.; or at least £200,000 since 2004! What a contribution; what a bargain for Dunblane!

Here is a summary of the findings:
